Penalty showdown was not victorious for Vics
GOALKEEPER Stevie O'Neill was saint turned sinner for Winton as he missed a penalty before saving two in a nerve-jangling shootout at Winton Park, edging battling Vics out to retain the North Ayrshire Cup. Winton took the lead with virtually the first move of the game in three minutes as Scott Adam outjumped the visiting defence to powerfully head home Colin Frye's cross from eight yards.

Vics manager madden wants his first piece of silverware
IRVINE VICTORIA manager Rab Madden has high hopes of landing his first piece of silverware as a manger after his fast-improving young side progressed to the North Ayrshire Cup Final last Wednesday. Vics demolished ARDEER THISTLE 9-2 away from home in a one-sided semi-final and now play Ardrossan Winton Rovers, Dalry Thistle or Saltcoats Victoria on a date and at a venue to be determined.

STAR defender Paul Mullin - the longsest serving player at Abbey Park - is planning to bring the curtain down on 14 glorious seasons with Kilwinning Rangers by winning major silverware and clinching a return to the Stagecoach Super League Premier Division. The 34-year-old, who lines up in the Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup final against Cumnock or Maybole and the two-legged Super Premier playoff against Nock next Monday, June 9 and Wednesday, June 11, had been intending to leave last term.
