HUNDREDS of council workers fighting for equal pay settlements are now suing trade unions for negligence.
Over a thousand workers demanded a settlement from North Ayrshire Council, claiming they were paid less than others doing similar jobs. The majority accepted a one-off payment from the Council.
Up to 300 North Ayrshire employees are now suing their unions for not providing a ”duty of care” to their members and advising them of their rights.
An Irvine care worker told the Times: “The union has been absolutely no help here. What do we pay them for if they are not looking after our interests.”
