By Court Reporter

Printer Print Article

James McMillan grabbed his wife Theresa by the arms after losing his temper in a row about moving home.

McMillan, 51, principal teacher of biology at Auchinleck Academy in Ayrshire, admitted carrying out the assault at their home in Dalmailing Avenue, Dreghorn, on New Year's Day.

He was cleared of throwing Mrs McMillan on a bed, slapping her face repeatedly and attempting to stifle her screams for help by stuffing a duvet cover in her mouth.

Not guilty pleas were also accepted to charges of slapping a 14-year-old girl in the face during the incident and in a second alleged attack last month.
