Printer Print Article

A VIOLIN teacher has left his wife and quit his job over a relationship with a Kilwinning Academy pupil.

Andrew Roberts, 45, was accused of breaking his duty of care by becoming close to the then sixth-year pupil while teaching at the Kilwinning school last Christmas.

North Ayrshire Council said that they had begun investigations into the matter, but that Mr Roberts had resigned.

One parent with a child at the school said that Mr Roberts wife Gareth, also a music teacher was currently off work with stress.

They added that Mr Roberts was continuing to work as a private tutor and was training to be a driving instructor.
