Attacked crews demand police escorts in Kilwinning
FIREFIGHTERS have had to resort to seeking police escorts in some areas of Kilwinning where they are facing initimidation and harassment.
Strathclyde Fire & Rescue have had to respond to an increasing number of calls to the Viaduct Circle area of the town, where crews are experiencing intimidating behaviour from gangs of youths.
Senior firefighters now say that crews will withdraw their service in certain circumstances if they face physical attacks while trying to do their job.
