School bus pervert is locked up

Printer Print Article

A VILE school bus driver caught with sick childs porn has been locked up for almost three-and-a-half years.

Twisted Robert Legget, formerly of Dornoch Court, had amassed over 51,000 pictures and videos of child abuse on computers and discs, some described as “the grossest type imaginable” by a judge at the High Court in Edinburgh last week.

The 54-year-old was told by Lord Brodie that he would have been facing a lengthier sentence had he not admitted the offences.

Legget, who put his Kilwinning home up for sale soon after his case was heard earlier this year, had earlier admitted making indecent photographs of children and distributing the images via the internet at his home.

Police officers working on the case claimed that the material was the most unpleasant they had ever seen.

Officers had received information about Legget, who worked for Shuttle Buses and drove children to and from school, obtaining a search warrant last March and discovering a number of computers and related equipment.

When one item was recovered Legget told them: “I bought it five years ago from a place in Glasgow. There will be stuff on the machine.”

They found discs entitled “torment”, “terror of rape” and “animal zoo” and found indecent images in a carrier bag.

Legget, also known locally as Jim, admitted to officers that he had been involved in the collection of indecent child material between 1998 and 2007 and had a folder available for distribution.

A spokesman for Shuttle Buses told us earlier in the year: “He was employed by the company as an assistant to the Managing Director, and was used occasionally as a driver but was mainly office based.

“The company was completely unaware of any misdemeanours. All of our staff are vetted through Disclosure Scotland and Mr Legget passed Disclosure Scotland checks.

“As soon as we were aware of the situation his employment was terminated.”

Lord Brodie sentenced Legget to 40 months imprisonment.
