Kilwinning woman denies dangerous driving death

By court reporter

A KILWINNING woman has denied causing the death of a pedestrian through dangerous driving near James Watt College earlier this year.

William Wood, 45, was knocked down as he crossed the road at Lauchlan Way on January 9. He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital but died shortly after arrival.

Audrey Theresa Boylan, of Hillcrest Place, denies driving without due care and attention and without reasonable consideration for others using the road.

She is alleged to have driven at excessive speed along the road, failing to keep a proper lookout for those around about before colliding with Mr Wood, fatally injuring him.

The 45-year-old woman pled not guilty to careless driving by letter at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.

She will stand trial at the court later this year.
