Find sick cowards

A SICK gang of five youths horrendously attacked a vulnerable young man with learning difficulties as he waited alone for a taxi and put him in hospital, say police.

Now officers are hunting the teenage thugs who surrounded and battered the lad outside Irvine train station in the broad daylight - and they say there must be witnesses.

The 18-year-old was making his way home to his mum after shopping when he was approached by a gang who told him to hand-over his goods.

But when he refused, say officers, the gang become violent and blows rained in from the five thugs who surrounded him.

When the beating ended the brave lad made his way home where his horrified mum had him rushed to hospital. He was treated for fractures to his torso.

Meanwhile, officers are astonished that no witnesses to the shocking attack have come forward, as it happened at the busy station taxi rank between 2.30pm and 3pm on Friday.

They also say the items taken were almost worthless and that it was a “poor attempt at robbery.”

The vulnerable victim from Cochrane Street has been unable to provide accurate descriptions of his attackers but said they are aged between 17 and 20.

A police spokesman said: “This was an unprovoked and vicious attack in the middle of the day in a busy area.

“We would appeal for witnesses who saw anything untoward to come forward and make themselves known to police.”

Words cannot convey the contempt I feel toward the five feral animals that attacked this defenceless young man.

This incident was not gang related or anything similiar. The victim is a teenager fairly new to the area, having come from a rural environment. He is neither streetwise nor troublesome. He was not known to his attackers. He also has learning difficulties and would not say 'boo to a goose'.

His five attackers (I would imagine one psycho and his 4 sheep) are cowards of the lowest order. Their parents must be very proud!

I hope the police are able to identify them from CCTV footage.

This poor lad walked home with multiple fractures, including his jaw broken in two places. No bystander it seems called the police or an ambulance. The following day he underwent surgery in Crosshouse Hospital.

This serious assault happened in broad daylight (2.30 -3pm), at the taxi rank, next to Irvine train station, on a busy afternoon and a stones throw from a busy shopping area. Please if you witnessed this incident, contact the police. You may not have names or full descriptions but every bit of information builds up a picture.

Did anyone think to take a photo or video on their mobile?

Please find the courage to come forward and help put the mindless thugs that pulvarised my nephew's where they belong; in a cage. This might not be the first time they have one this OR the last. And remember this -

ALL IT TAKES FOR EVIL TO SUCCEED, IS FOR GOOD MEN TO TO NOTHING.
