Kilwinning's haunted towers

A crack team of ghost-hunters spent the night staking out Eglinton Castle in search of scientific proof of paranormal activity.

And the spirit-seekers did manage to collect some slightly sketchy evidence - before being chased off by boozy teenagers.

Founder of the West of Scotland Paranormal Research, Ian McCallum, said: "Some of us had personal experiences , but what this means is that they can't be used as evidence as there is nothing to corroborate it with."

The five strong group of investigators pitched up at the historical building with their band of sophisticated equipment, including night vision cameras and infra-red motion sensors.

But soon after setting up their equipment they began to hear bumps in the night.
