Vandals are '20 year cancer'
By Alistair Neil
ANGRY Irvine residents have hit-out at the vandalism and anti-social behaviour taking place at the town's Old Parish Churchyard - but a plan of action to tackle the problem does appear likely.
Over 20 concerned locals packed into Irvine's Volunteer Rooms last Thursday night for a meeting with Councillor Ian Clarkson and David McCall, the council's Cemeteries Manager.
A number of stones have been deliberately damaged in the cemetry and the site has been a hotspot for local yobs drinking and taking drugs.
Residents raised examples of some of the recent trouble at the location, such as the two cars that drove into the cemetry last year and blared out music.
