Thousands set to strike
By Kevin Dyson
AROUND 3,500 council workers are set to to walk out on strike over pay this summer.
Members of three trade unions - Unison, GMB and Unite - will vote by the end of this month whether to take action over a pay settlement which they argue has left them out of pocket thanks to inflation.
Council employees were offered a 2.5 per cent increase for each of the next three years. However the unions rejected the offer and will move to ballot members on strike action.
