THE MOTHER of Kilwinning Big Brother housemate Mikey Hughes has hit out at a report in a national tabloid claiming her boy is NOT blind - but has spoken of her delight at the continued messages of support he is getting from the people of Irvine and Kilwinning.

Mary Hughes could not belive her eyes when she read the article last week but accepts that such claims, despite their falsity, are part and parcel of the Big Brother experience.

She said: "I was really angry at that, I thought about what Grant (her husband) and I went through and how hard it was for Michael to adapt to his blindness."

Check out this week's Times for more on the local lad.
