THE DIRECTOR of the Irvine Burns Club has revealed he is pleased at the news Michael Jackson has set the Bard's lyrics to music.

Sam Gaw was reacting to a statement from a friend of the troubled pop star, saying the pair had recorded an album of Rabbie's work with a modern backing.

Sam told the Times he "could well understand" why the King of Pop was a fan of the Ayrshire poet - but stopped short of lending his support to a musical based on Rabbie's life.

Check out the Times for more on Jacko's Burns appreciation.
