COUNCIL leader David O’Neil announced a new plan to make sure people in the area are treated equally - and asked wronged residents to speak out.
The council’s Single Equality Scheme and Action Plan sets out to get rid of unfair disadvantages in some people’s lives and enforce new laws about race, disability and gender equality.
Cllr O’Neil explained: “Everyone has the right to be treated fairly and to have the opportunity to fulfil their potential. However, equality is not just a right in principle – it has to be put into practice.”
He also said that people should have the same access to council services and appealed for residents to help tackle problems that exist in this area.
