Dryer sets JWC on fire
By Alistair Neil
STUDENTS and staff at James Watt College had a lucky escape after fire broke out at the Kilwinning campus last week.
The college was evacuated on Wednesday after a blaze began in the laundry room but fire crews were quick on the scene after the alarm was raised.
Nobody was hurt in the incident but Kilwinning Fire Station Commander Gibby Lamont said the outcome could have been a lot worse.
He said: “It could have been very different had it not been for the college’s effective alarm system as that meant there was a quick and swift evacuation of the premises."
