Irvine welder would not lie for boss
A COMPANY which changed hands to avoid paying an employment tribunal award to an Irvine man could have to pay up after all.
Welder George Irvine had won a constructive and unfair dismissal claim against G & K Valve Services Ltd in January 2006 - after quitting when his boss devised fake safety certificates so he could work in confined spaces at a sewage treatment works.
Mr Irvine and a co-worker had been awarded over £38,000 compensation between them after they quit in December 2003.
But by the time of the tribunal award, the company's work and assets had been transferred or sold to KLT Water Engineering Ltd of Dundonald.
