ANGRY residents living near Irvine Moor have hit-out at the state of the path leading towards the Burns monument.

Parts of the busy walkway linking the town centre to the Moor area are covered in mud while some of the paths’s surface has been completely destroyed.

Workers carrying out maintenance at the Maress Road Footbridge have had to use the pathway to gain access to the bridge, but the weight of their vehicles has damaged the ground in the area.

The Times spoke to one nearby resident who claims parts of the walkway are now almost impassible.

He fumed: "It's a shambles."
