AN IRVINE man has been locked up after putting a disabled woman through a torturous ordeal over two days, preventing her from sleeping, washing and using the phone.

Ian Brain Shaddick, of High Street, had been ordered to stay away from Linda Bates but broke the court interdict on May 2 when he went to her home in Hill Street, Kilmarnock.

There he demanded entry to the house, eventually gaining access.

Once inside he began shouting and swearing and placing the woman, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, in a state of fear and alarm.

From then until May 4 he prevented her from sleeping, refused to let her wash and stopped her from using her phone.

Shaddick, 33 admitted the offene and a breach of the peace at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.

He was sentenced to seven months imprisonment.
