IRVINE AC had four veteran runners take the long road up to Forres for the Nation Masters Cross Country Championship.

Conditions overhead were good although the ground was wet and muddy after the overnight rain.

Helen Morton and Liz McGarry both had excellent races over the 6k hilly course. Helen took the silver medal in the 45+ category with Liz taking bronze in the 50+ category. In the men’s 10k race Iain Fraser was 20th in the 40+ category and David Kerr was third in the 70+ category.

The Marress club were invited to attend the Willie Jukes Five Mile Memorial race, held by Greenock Glenpark Harriers in Dunoon. Full report p53
