McTurk, gearing up for the Rockware Glass League Cup opener at home to Kilbirnie Ladeside this week has snapped up goal machine Brian Johnston from Lanark United.

Also, 19-year-old defender/midfielder Andy Bell from senior side Stirling Albion and former Abbey Park favourite Jamie Haswell returned to the club following a spell with Cumnock.

The Buffs manager told Sportscene: “We are delighted to have signed Brian, a striker who scored 32 goals for Lanark last season and who was also being chased by Arthurlie, Shotts Bon Accord and Larkhall Thistle.

`He is a proven goalscorer, having previously played for Queen of the South, Hurlford United and Glenafton Athletic and should be a good player for us.`
