The Stevenston teenager secured a silver medal in the outdoor high jump event at the AAA Championships at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium to add to his current indoor title.
He remains number one in the UK rankings in under 15 age group.
Miraculously John narrowly missed out in a medal in the discus.
The current Scottish Discus Champion but was outside the top 20 rankings before this competition, he put in a phenomenal serious of throws to lie in 3rd place at the halfway stage of the competition, the top eight athletes went forward for a further three throws.
