V FOR VICTORY! - VICS' DERBY TRIUMPH
A late winner from Keith Graham helped Vics defeat mighty Meadow 4-3 on their own patch in this annual derby showdown for the first time since 1996 with defeated boss Chris Strain conceded his opponents deserved their moment of glory.
Now victorious manager Sanny McAnespie hopes to use the unexpected triumph as a springboard for an assault on promotion to the Super League First Division.
However Strain is now focusing his attention on tonight’s (Wednesday) Rockware Glass League Cup semi-final showdown away to Auchinleck Talbot and Saturday’s second Stagecoach Super League First Division match at home to Lugar Boswell Thistle.
McAnespie said: “We totally deserved to win the game and some Meadow fans told me that after the match. Everyone enjoyed some celebrations after it.
“Our lads had great self belief and played well. They were resolute even when Meadow fought back to make it 3-3.
