ICE WORK!
THE INAUGURAL Jimmy Young Memorial Tournament took place on Saturday, November 25 at the Magnum in Irvine in memory of one of Ayr Bruins Ice Hockey Club's finest players who sadly died in June this year.
Opening the tournament were some of the original Ayr Bruins players from the 60's and some of Jimmy's teammates from the team who won the British Cup in 1976.
A presentation of a British Cup Winning Team jerseywas made to Jimmy's great nephew Elliott Young by cup winning captain Stewart Hendrie.
Also in attendance was Paul Heavey who coached the Ayr Scottish Eagles and who currently coaches the Great Britain U-20 squad.
Paul is pictured with the team captains prior to dropping the first puck to start proceedings.
The tournament was a huge success with local Under 10 team North Ayrshire Sabres facing off against Solway Sharks in the first match recording a fine 3-0 win.
The young Sabres team played exceptionally well throughout the day beating every other team in the tournament to secure their place in the final.
