MEADOW IN SEVENTH HEAVEN
By Stewart McConnell
MIGHTY MEADOW motored SEVEN points clear at the top of the table after they brushed aside the Lanarkshire team for a second time this season to rack up their 11th win out of 14.
However their joy at victory was tinged by disappointment as key midfielder Gareth Turner was stretchered off early in the second half with a major leg injury.
Meadow introduced new signing Gary McPhee who has been re-instated from Stranraer in midfield and he helped the home club secure a second successive victory following the surprise defeat at Beith two weeks earlier.
The match started at a hectic pace with both sides looking for that all-important first goal and with 10 minutes gone East Kilbride were unlucky not to go ahead.
A hopeful ball into the penalty area found Steven McClung and his shot hit the post and rebounded on to Michael Wardrope’s back and away for a corner.
With 20 minutes on the clock, East Kilbride had another chance when the ball broke to John McCauley but his shot flew high over the bar.
