MEADOW SECURE SECOND ROUND SPOT
PENICUIK 3 - 4 IRVINE MEADOW
FIRED-UP Meadow twice came from behind to knock out a strong home side and secure a place in the second round of the Scottish Junior Cup.
Penicuik, with a number of ex-seniors in their side, started at a ferocious pace and went ahead in seven minutes.
Meadow immediately bounced back through a goal from Chris Strain Jr.
But their opponents hit back just two minutes later after a poor pass back from Derek Wingate.
The score was 2-2 after just 20 minutes as Brian McGinty headed in.
And they finally took the lead on 35 minutes with Armstrong slotting in from six yards.
Meadow went in to the break with a two goal cushion thanks to Gold.
The second half was a far quieter affair, and despite a late penalty from Penicuik, Meadow secured the spot in round 2.
