DEJECTED Irvine players trooped off the Memorial Field pitch believing they had thrown away an opportunity for an away win after a late Ardrossan try confirmed their victory in the hotly anticipated Premier Three North Ayrshire derby.
Kicking off with a strengthening wind in their favour, Accies assaulted the Irivne line throughout the first 10 minutes, but fine goal-line tackling kept them out. And the visitors gradually took control of the game.
Eventually the Ardrossan pack's weight told, however.
