STAR defender Paul Mullin - the longsest serving player at Abbey Park - is planning to bring the curtain down on 14 glorious seasons with Kilwinning Rangers by winning major silverware and clinching a return to the Stagecoach Super League Premier Division.
The 34-year-old, who lines up in the Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup final against Cumnock or Maybole on Thursday and the two-legged Super Premier playoff against Nock next Monday, June 9 and Wednesday, June 11, had been intending to leave last term.
But now is looking for a club closer to his Greenock home.
" I am really looking forward to the final, we played very well to Irvine Meadow and seem to do better against clubs who are at a higher level."
I am hoping that we can win the cup although regardless whether we play Cumnock or Maybole it will be a tough game."
"But I would also like to help the guys clinch promotion as I belive they should be in the Premier Division.
"Manager Alan McTurk and the players persuaded me to stay on last season but it's time for a change and I would like to play for a club nearer home, like port Glasgow."
"The highlight of my career at Abbey Park has to be the 1998-99 season when we won the double treble. I certainly didn't think I would have stayed here this long but I have a great affinity with Kilwinning Rangers and have really enjoyed my time here."
