A HAMMER blow has been dealt to Irvine Meadow ahead of next week's big kick-off following the news that key midfielder Frank Haggerty is to be sent to a specialist over a troublesome knee injury.
However boss Chris Strain is promising the fans top quality entertainment as they begin their campaign with an Ardagh Glass League Cup match at home to Saltcoats Victoria next Wednesday.
Haggerty suffered a twisted knee in the recent Neilston Tournament and the club have arranged for him to see a specialist to help determine the extent of the problem.
Strain said: "It's a bit of a worry. Frank's knee is swollen and it's the same one he had an operation on last year. He could be out for a few week."
