Striker McGinty says 20 goal spree sparked by trophyless season
STRIKER Brian McGinty says free-scoring IRVINE MEADOW's failure to lift any trophies last season is spurring him on towards a glorious treble in the new campaign.
He was speaking after Meadow took their tally to a whopping TWENTY goals from the opening two games in the League Cup following the 8-1 demolition of Saltcoats Victoria on Wednesday and the 12-0 drubbing of Ardeer Thistle on Saturday, although the former St Mirren hitman has not yet been on the scoresheet.
The 31-year-old, who is in his second season with the Meadow Park side, played the last 15 minutes of Wednesday's game and also featured on Saturday although in a less familiar midfield role.
