A COUNCILLOR has slammed the "disappointing" response to the revelations of Princess Diana's links with Irvine - and said it is now up to the council to promote the heritage.
Labour member Ian Clarkston had been expected more of a "national and international response" after the Times revealed that the Lady Di's lineage can be traced back to relatives buried in the town's Old Parish Church.
He praised local historian Billy Kerr for unearthing the intriguing royal discovery, but said the pressure was now on North Ayrshire Council to make the most of the Irvine's newly discovered Diana dynasty.
