Hard-working pupils and staff at Lawthorn Primary were honoured this week for their dedication to the environment.

The Irvine school was named as the winner of the Sustainable School prize at the Scottish Education Awards 2010 at a ceremony in Glasgow on Friday.

In a unanimous decision by the judges, Lawthorn won out over Grantown Grammar School and Currie Community High School - receiving a trophy, certificate and a £1000 cheque.
