IRVINE locals have raised concerns over traffic problems at Irvine Cross caused by the redevelopment of the Bridgegate.

Complaints have specifically been raised about the room pedestrians have to walk across the areas where work is being carried out on the pavement.

At a meeting of Irvine Community Council last month, one Irvine resident said: "There simply isn't enough room for pedestrians to get by. It's such a busy area and it seems as though a lot of people are finding it difficult to walk through the designated path. It's not just pedestrians walking though as I've seen cars get into difficulty round corners because of the construction lorries and vans." Construction work is currently being carried out as part of the multi-million pound redevelopment of Irvine's Bridgegate. The council's Bridgegate House and the town's Trinity Church have also undergone a facelift as part of the plans to improve the town and attract new business to the area.
