IRVINE schoolchildren took over the management and operation of the Scottish Maritime Museum last week, as part of the first Takeover Day Scotland.
P6 pupils from Castlepark Primary School took on roles as directors, volunteer managers, finance officers, education officers, technicians, tour guides and curators between for a full working day on Thursday.
During the day, students led tours for Irvine and Kilwinning’s MSP Margaret Burgess (pictured), Provost Joan Sturgeon and other visiting dignitaries.
They also delivered an education programme for a visiting nursery class, the Owl and the Pussycat.
The temporary museum staff, whom had already spent a research day at the Museum, ended the day by launching a new exhibition which they conceived, designed and curated.
