KILWINNING is gearing up for its annual fireworks display and everyone is invited to go along and support the spectacular community show.

The event, which takes place at McGavin Park on bonfire night, (tomorrow - Thursday, November 5) starts at 5.30pm.

Visitors will be treated to fire acts and balloon art, which is free for all kids.

There will also be rides, vintage fire engines, hot food and charity stalls to get you excited before the fireworks begin.

The full 21 minute display is scheduled to begin at 7pm and organisers are asking for people to arrive well before that, preferably by foot as traffic will be very busy.

Two young talents from the area will also be on stage to entertain gatherers from just after 6pm, with Emma Sarginson and Caitlin Carruthers performing separate sets.

Organisers have also advised for what people coming to the display should and shouldn’t do on the night.

The group are asking that people bring a torch, come warmly dressed and have a donation for the bucket collection on entry and make sure any children that are brought have their parents or guardians contact details.

They are also asking for no fireworks or sparklers to be brought to the display, no pets and no glass bottles or alcohol either with random searches made on entry.

Kilwinning Community Events are organising the event and operates purely on donations, in kind support and a grant from the area’s council.

The buckets at the gates will be used to fund this group and ensure the organisation can continue holding these types of events.

Volunteers to help at the display are still needed so if you feel you can help on the night then please email donaldreid@live.co.uk.

If you are planning to bring a car to the event, organisers are asking drivers to use the town centre and station car parks and then use the safe walking routes to the event.

The Kilwinning Academy and Abbey Primary car parks will be used with 30 disabled spaces available at Kilwinning Academy, with people being reminded to ensure their blue badge is clearly on show.

Residents in Park Lane, Groatholm, The Meadows, Ladyacre and Northacre will all have Residents Pass Holders only checkpoints in place.

There will be no on-street parking at any of these streets as well as in Beechwood, Dalry Road, Old Woodwynd, Baird Ave and Woodside access Road. Claremont Crescent will also have controls in place. The Traffic Regulations Order will apply 4pm to 9pm.
