TOWIE star James Lock will launch this year’s Irvine Christmas lights, the Times can exclusively reveal.

Irvine Special Events Forum, who are organising this year’s event, have lined up The Only Way Is Essex star to launch the festive illuminations at the Bridgegate on Sunday, November 29.

As well as appearing at the event James - known as ‘Lockie’ on the show - will be doing a meet and greet with fans and his appearance is expected to draw hundreds to the town.

This year’s event won’t have an official switch on due to the on going works in the High Street, but there will be many more things to entertain the crowds.

The day starts at 3.30pm and will be presented by West FM DJ Michael Smith and comedian Billy Kirkwood. There will be entertainment from local musicians and bands and a Santa’s Grotto for the kids.

There will also be an array of stalls at the Trinity Church.

In the weeks leading up to the event budding singers, musicians, dancers, magicians, and many more will have the chance to showcase their talents with the chance of appearing on stage on the big night.

All you have to do is send your video to the Irvine Special Events Forum’s Facebook page or YouTube channel and the best videos will be selected and their stars will perform on stage at the event.
