POLICE are appealing for information after a man was stabbed in the face outside an Irvine pub.

At around 12.30pm on Monday, November 23, the 28-year-old victim was walking in Dickson Drive - near to the Coach and Horses pub - when he was attacked by another man wielding a knife who fled up the street after his cowardly assault.

The victim was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment for a stab wound to the face.

The suspect is described as white, slim to medium build and wearing all dark clothing.

Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Gavin McKellar from Saltcoats CID said: “We are carrying out extensive inquiries including door to door and checking all available CCTV in order to trace the man responsible for this vicious attack.  

"I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident or who has any knowledge about the suspect or the incident to contact officers as a matter of urgency.”
