A FREE microchipping event in Irvine has been cancelled due to Storm Gertrude.
The storm has wreaked havoc across the country with trains, planes and buses, meaning Dogs Trust personnel were unable to attend the event in the Volunteer Rooms today, friday, January 29.
Organisers have moved quickly to re-schedule the event which will now take place on Monday 22nd February from 9 am to 1 pm, when the venue will again be the Volunteer Rooms.
Cunninghame South MSP Margaret Burgess, who had helped to promote the Dogs Trust event, commented:
"There is no way of legislating for our winter weather!
"However ,the number of dog owners who turned up before they'd heard about the postponement shows the real demand for microchipping.
“I am certain a large number of responsible dog owners will be eager to take advantage of free microchipping before it becomes compulsory in April, and will attend the re-scheduled event next month.
