A MAN who assaulted his ex partner and two others during a drunken rampage could face jail.

Adam McCulloch, 29, carried out the booze-fuelled assaults on November 22 in Irvine’s Pladda Crescent and Pladda Wynd.

At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week, it was revealed that McCulloch was in a relationship with the first complainer for three years.

The pair have a young child together but separated roughly a year ago.

A drunk McCulloch attended the woman’s home address where an argument ensued between them.

According to prosecutor Claire McKevney, McCulloch’s behaviour escalated and he grabbed his former partner by the hair.

McCulloch, no fixed abode, drew his fist back as if he was going to punch the woman.

But after she managed to escape, McCulloch quickly caught up with her.

He once again grabbed the woman’s hair before scratching at her face.

She managed to flee to a friend’s house and banged on the door for help.

McCulloch quickly followed her there and once again pulled her hair.

The other woman attempted to calm the situation but she too was assaulted for her efforts.

McCulloch pushed the woman to the floor causing her to strike her head on the ground.

Another male witness within the house phoned for the police before attempting to aid the two women.

He and McCulloch tussled with each other before McCulloch punched him in the face which caused his left eye to burst.

McCulloch’s ex-partner was uninjured but the other woman sustained bruising to her right arm.

When appearing at court last week, McCulloch pled guilty to the offence.

Alex Muir, defending, said a “deep rooted difficulty” with alcohol was the reason for McCulloch’s assaults.

Mr Muir said it was his understanding that there are no issues when his client is sober and said he had managed to stay out of trouble while on bail.

But presiding Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane appeared unimpressed by McCulloch’s behaviour.

She said: “I am sure he has told you my view of men who hit women especially the mothers of their children.

“It beggars belief Mr McCulloch and you’ll appreciate a custodial sentence is uppermost in my mind right now.”

McCulloch will return to Kilmarnock Sheriff Court later this month for sentencing once social work reports are made available.
