RANGERS FC are set to name an executive suite after one of their biggest fans – former Irvine MP Brian Donohoe.

The club want to re-name its Ibrox Suite to ‘The Brian Donohoe Lounge’ in honour of the ex-Labour politician’s loyal following anywhere and everywhere of the Govan side.

A plush makeover, hoped to be completed by the start of the new season, will see new helicopter wallpaper and a replica of The Rovers Return bar from Coronation Street introduced.

But a source at Rangers has assured fans not to worry as the club hope to recoup any money spent through a hefty return in swear jars.

Brian hit the headlines after losing his Central Ayrshire seat last year when he told the Times he could now tell people to "f*** off".

Irvine Times:

He now has even more time to focus on his beloved Gers after being recently appointed to the board at fans group Rangers First.

Speaking to the Times this week, Ibrox insider Joe King said: “We’ve been considering re-naming the suite for some time and Brian was the outstanding candidate.

“Yes Ally McCoist, Walter Smith and Brian Laudrup are idolised at this club but Brian’s work in the House of Commons as chair of the Rangers supporters club was simply the best.

“He deserves to be recognised amongst the true greats here at Ibrox.

“But we don't want our fans to think we're bringing this in without consulting them. We will soon be issuing a survey asking our supporters to explore the plans, take in the content and write to us by return what they think.”
