AN Irvine band are jetting off to Sweden for a special tour.

Rockers Culann will join Scandinavian pals Mojo Madness for two shows in Gothenburg and Hasselholm on May 6-7.

The tour follows after the Swedish outfit joined Culann at the Ship Inn last year for one of their hometown gigs.

Culann are fresh off yet another sell-out at Glasgow's 13th Note as well as still trying to finish recording their long-awaited second album.

Lead singer PJ Kelly he said he can't wait to kickstart the tour of a lifetime and hit a new market.

He said: "We have been speaking to a great contact we made over in Sweden and she has really helped with the process.

"Rosie suggested Mojo Madness to us and we brought them over for the Halloween show last year. Now we are heading to their home turf!

"We listen to a few Swedish bands and have supported a couple in the past also. I think traditionally they enjoy heavier music and the live music scene is vibrant in cities like Gothenburg.

"I think we would like this to be the start of something we can do more regularly, its an exciting prospect to be playing music to a complete new audience who have never heard you before."

PJ added: "The guys in Mojo are great and have been really helpful with setting some of this up, they really enjoyed playing at The Ship in Irvine last year so we are glad to be heading to their homeland for some gigs.

"We have seven songs recorded now with another three to finish towards the end of the year, its looking likely that the album will be released in spring 2017.

"It's been a long process but it will be worth the wait."
