A GROUP of Star Wars fanatics recently handed over £1,320 to Rainbow House - after climbing Goatfell dressed as stormtroopers.

The Ayrshire Star Wars Collective, made up of Gordon Smallwood, Josh McGregor and owners of Irvine-based Set Sail Tattoo, Louis and Victoria McKee, donned their best Star Wars gear for the charity climb on Sunday May 1.

The team regularly hold fundraisers and this year decided to dedicate their latest adventure to Rainbow House, based at Ayrshire Central Hospital.

Gordon said: “Mother of moons! What a positive response from the public we have had.

“We would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who donated to the cause and everyone who helped and supported us during our hike up Goat Fell. The force has definitely been with us.”

Rainbow House is an assessment, diagnosis and treatment centre for children and young people in Ayrshire and Arran who may need additional support with their development. It is also the base for the Community Paediatric Service.

Dr Nuno Cordeiro, Consultant Paediatrician at Rainbow House, said: “This is a magnificent donation that will be put to good use to benefit Rainbow House patients and families, including contributing towards a planned weekend in Keswick for a group of young adults.

“I would like to say a huge thanks to the Ayrshire Star Wars Collective and everyone who donated.”
