A MAN who is aiming to run an incredible 401 marathons in as many days arrived in Irvine last week to complete his latest challenge.

Ben Smith visited Irvine on Thursday, July 14 as he continues his epic 401 Challenge all in the name of promoting anti-bullying.

Since starting his escapade last September, the Bristol runner has raised over £116,000 of his £250,000 target for kids charities Cornerstone and Kidscape.

Ben’s journey has seen him pound the pavements the length and breadth of the country and has completed marathons across Scotland for the last two months.

And he linked up with Irvine group Ron's Runners for his 318th marathon running two laps from the town's Mill Road to across the beach park.

Ben and his supporters, however, couldn't resist a quick stop for ice cream at Vanilla Joe's during his trip to the Harbourside.

As well as Irvine, Ben also descende on Prestwick, Ayr and Girvan before leaving Ayrshire for Stranraer on Tuesday.
