FIRE crews dealt with two car fires in Irvine last week.
The first incident late on last Thursday evening involved a private car which set ablaze near to Redburn Roundabout.
Firefighters were slightly delayed in reaching the incident as the car’s owner was unfamiliar with the area.
But after a thorough check, crews managed to reach the car and quickly extinguish the blaze.
In the early hours of Friday morning, a further vehicle fire was reported this time in Fortacre Place, Girdle Toll.
Station Manager Derek Davidson said this particular blaze had the signs of a “deliberate act”.
He said: “This was a period of fairly regular activity within the Irvine area which the crews dealt with competently and professionally.
“The bonus for everyone was that no members of the public or firefighters were injured during the operational phase.”
Crews also had to deal with a house fire at around 9.30pm last Thursday in Birkscairn Place.
On arrival, the Incident Commander tasked the crew wearing breathing apparatus to enter the building and extinguish a fire in the kitchen which started due to an overheating tumble drier.
