A RECYCLING firm and two of its directors have been charged with illegally dumping waste tyres in Irvine.
Autowaste Services Scotland Ltd are accused of disposing the waste between October 21, 2014 and October 9, 2015 at a unit in the town’s Kyle Road.
Wendy Gillies, 44, and Stephen Gillies, 42, are also charged with permitting the dumping to be carried out.
Registered at Heathfield Industrial Estate, Ayr, Autowaste allegedly dumped the tyres without a waste management licence.
Both Wendy and Stephen Gillies, of Whiteside Drive, Monkton, allegedly knew the tyres were dumped as well as leaving them to be sorted and baled on the land.
On October 8 last year, Autowaste also allegedly failed to remove the tyres despite a notice from the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) on September 15, 2015 requiring them to do so.
All parties were absent when the case called at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week and no plea or declaration was submitted.
The case was adjourned until August.
