A MAN found guilty of drink driving in Irvine has been handed a hefty road ban.
Andrew Cambridge, 50, was caught driving under the influence in Townhead on June 14, 2015.
He tested 57 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the current drink drive limit of 22 microgrammes as well as being found without a valid insurance policy.
Cambridge, of Vernon Street, Saltcoats, stood trial for the offence at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court where he was found guilty.
He returned to court last week for sentencing in front of presiding Sheriff Shirley Foran.
Cambridge appeared in crutches with defence solicitor Brian Holliman stating his client had broken his hip after falling from a ladder.
His restricted mobility for the next few weeks, according to Mr Holliman, meant Cambridge would be unable to carry out unpaid work.
The offence was Cambridge’s second drink driving conviction in four years.
Sheriff Foran sentenced Cambridge to 12 months of supervision, a three month tagging order keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am and disqualified him from driving for 36 months.
