IRVINE’S famous dancing clergymen want to hear feelgood stories from the town they serve - as part of their festive campaign for 2016.

Fullarton Parish Church minister Rev. Neil Urquhart and Fr Willie Boyd from St Mary’s Parish Church - better known as the Shoes Brothers - have joined forces once again for Are Ye Wise!? their latest Christmas film antics.

The duo, alongside Rev Tendai Mbaserah from Kilmarnock Baptist Church, get up to hilarious hi-jinx in the three part series but there’s also an important message throughout.

Kindness, loving and giving from people in Irvine and across Ayrshire are the main theme of the campaign which ties in with the Irvine-based Give Something Back group.

And they want to hear from people in Irvine who have either shown or received acts of kindness throughout the year.

The Irvine Times have linked up with the Shoes Brothers to help spread the message over the festive season.

Fullarton Church’s annual Christmas single will also be unveiled with a special launch at Thursday, December 8 at Fullarton Connexions along with the other three films.

Irvine Times:

The story traces the comical steps of the wacky wise men who stumble through a time ‘portal’ into the Royal Burgh of Irvine.

Unsure of where or even when they are, their mission remains clear: To find and celebrate the king of the universe.

Provost Ian Clarskon, Council Leader Joe Cullinane, Greenwood and Irvine Royal Academies, Irvine’s Burger King, Seagate Castle and Marymass Royal Party all play a role in the films.

Speaking this week, Rev Neil called on everyone in Irvine to come together and share their kindness with each other.

He said: “We’ve both been serving in Irvine for over 20 years and built up a lot of trust and goodwill. Following on from our ‘Shoes Brothers’ and ‘Min in Black’ films, ‘Are Ye Wise!?’ celebrates so much of what’s good in our town!

“Lots of people and groups are helping others in need and these films are aimed at encouraging that ‘Giving Something Back’ spirit. And fortunately Irvine folk are game for a laugh!”

Rev Neil added: “We’re chuffed to have both of Irvine’s newspapers and Irvine Beat FM right behind ‘Are Ye Wise!?’

“For inclusion in the third and fourth videos we need strong photos and stories of people/groups going out of their way to help others and ‘Give Something Back’.

“Please feel free to let the local papers, Irvine Beat or ourselves know about stories of sacrificial service, which can become part of Irvine’s ‘loving, caring and sharing’ run-in to Christmas and beyond!”

The first of the three short videos - titled Seagate - is launched today (Wednesday, November 16) at 5.30pm on the Fullonart YouTube page.
