A MAN who hurled a torrent of racist abuse after being kicked out of an Irvine nightclub has dodged a jail term.

Sukhdeep Singh Attwal, 27, drunkenly abused police and bouncers after being ejected from Pitchers nightclub on October 9-10.

The plumber claimed to have suffered racial abuse himself earlier that evening.

Kilmarnock Sheriff Court heard last week how at around 11.45pm on the night in question staff at the Bank Street club saw Attwal and another male arguing.

Attwal was ushered out of the club because of the altercation and was initially compliant with the stewards.

But when they got to the main stairwell of Pitchers, Attwal’s attitude suddenly changed.

He called one of the stewards a “w****”, “slut” and a “speccy b****” along with other similar insults.

Staff continued to remove Attwal from the premises but he continued to act abusively.

He called door staff “white scummy b*******” and “white trash” before police were contacted.

Attwal, of Kilmarnock, was arrested and taken to Saltcoats Police Office.

While there, he referred to officers as “racist b*******” and while at the charge bar, Attwal called a female officer a “white b****” before adding “you’s are all the same”.

The dad-of-two then called two other officers “a pair of white racist b*******”.

Attwal pleaded guilty to the charges at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, November 14.

Katy Dawson, defending, said her client was on a day out drinking and had been upset by an earlier incident where he was racially abused.

She told presiding Sheriff David Hall that Attwal, in her opinion, is “emotionally immature” and continued to consume alcohol after the initial incident.

Mrs Dawson said: “When I met him from custody he had no recollection of being at the nightclub. He was dumbfounded by his behaviour.

“He is in a relationship with a white woman and has mixed race children.

“Being of a different ethnicity he has experienced abuse and the comments he made are completely out of character.”

Mrs Dawson said Attwal had commented that perhaps his drinking was becoming an issue.

She told Sheriff Hall that Attwal has stopped going out and now spends more time at home with his children.

When passing sentence, Sheriff Hall said: “This type of behaviour is simply not acceptable.

“The comments you were directing at individuals simply cannot be tolerated.”

Attwal was sentenced to 12 months of supervision, 100 hours of unpaid work and given a tagging order keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am.

Alcohol counselling was also included as part of Attwal’s supervision.
