A TALENTED schoolboy who trains at an Irvine martial arts club s celebrating after winning two gold medals at the Muay Thai Boxing World Championships.

Logan Grant earned his awards at the world event in Italy, where he was supported by his mum and gran, Tracey and Agnes Dodds.

The 10-year-old’s family had spent months fundraising so that the aspiring athlete could take part in the championships. 

Tracey said: “I am one very proud mum and pleased to say that Logan has brought home not one, but two World Championship titles. It’s absolutely fantastic. 

“The experience of being there was totally amazing and all the nations of the world were there. The atmosphere was something else.

“Logan’s totally over the moon. He was so proud of himself and was taking his medals to show everyone at school.

“I would like to thank my mum Agnes Dodds who helped me every step of the way with raising funds to help Logan achieve his dream and compete in the World Championships in Marina di Carrara, Italy, in which 108 countries were ready to fight in the name of combat sport.”

Logan moved to Rama Camp Muay Thai in Irvine. 

Tracey said: “Since joining Rama, Logan’s technique has improved dramatically and it’s all thanks to his coach Scott Russell and everyone at Rama, who have been absolutely fantastic with him.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who donated to his Go Fund Me page. Without each and every one who took the time to support and donate this may never have happened.

“I would personally like to thank Mark Cuggy from Sortaksin Gym in Markinch, Fife who offered to do Logan’s corner for this event and Justin Armstrong from Wossobama Gym in Kilmarnock for all their help and support in Italy. 

“It was a fantastic time as we all worked together to make a fantastic team – Team Scotland. Each and every one of the youngsters brought back medals. 

“We will never forget this experience. I was fantastic from start to finish.”
