ALL-DANCING Irvine clergymen the Rev Neil Urquhart and Fr Willie Boyd stepped out into the limelight as their latest adventures were played out on the big screen at a special festive event last week,

The Fullarton Church pastor and St Mary's Church Parish Priest, aka the Shoes Brothers, joined forces with Zimbabwean-born the Rev Tendai Mbaserah of Kilmarnock Baptist Church for a premiere screening of the single Are Ye Wise!? and the Are Ye Wise film trilogy (Seagate, Sea King and See You) at Fullarton Connexions on Thursday.

Vocals for the single were recorded by Dublin-born Tracy Stephens, who now lives in Kilwinning and has sung in churches around the community, with the trio playing the roles of the Three Wise Men and performing a series of wacky dance moves on the accompanying video.

Among the special guests attending the event were NAC Provost Ian Clarkson and Jim Smith and Aaron Nugent of Coastwatch Irvine.

The latest celluloid action follows on from the Shoes Brothers and Men in Black trilogy and the films feature a whole host of members of the public who acted as extras.

Fr Boyd got the proceedings underway as he said he had gone from being an outside to an insider at Fullarton Church through his involvement in the film projects which had broken down barriers.

He said: "We want to get across to people that even although we are not all the same that's not an issue. Although there are differences we have a lot to rejoice in. We had been wanting to make the films for more than 10 years but did not have the technology until now."

Added Neil: "People were so willing to get involved (in the films) because when they realised we are celebrating the good in the town and we are at our best is when we are loving, caring and sharing."

The Provost added: "It says a lot for Neil and Willie the way they are accepted in the town and people like to work with them."

Following the speeches the guests enjoyed the main event - the screening of the movies, which featured a fall by Neil on the way into Irvine Royal Academy - described jokingly by Tendai as a highlight.

Voiceover was provided by legendary WestSound broadcaster Kenny Campbell and other locations used included Greenwood Academy, Cunninghame House, Crosshouse Hospital, Bridgegate, Vanilla Joe's and Burger King.

The films saw the intrepid trio go in search of the King (Jesus Christ) in a host of locations only to be told He was everywhere if people looked closely.

Festivities were rounded off with a Mannequin Challenge which saw the guests, including the Provost and Stewart McConnell of the Irvine Times along with the star trio dancing to the single with some complicated moves which let's just say not everyone pulled off very well and then freezing on the spot. There was also free ice cream courtesy of Vanilla Joe's.
