DREGHORN residents have raised more than £3,000 to go towards Rainbow House at Ayrshire Central Hospital, writes Andy Hamilton.

The people of Dreghorn have outdone themselves this year in their incredible efforts to raise money, with the latest to benefit from their generosity being the childrens unit at Ayrshire Central Hospital.

Led by local pub the Crown Inn, the Dreghorn community had a sponsored cycle around Millport earlier in the year to raise £3,064 for Rainbow House.

Lorna Thompson, staff member at the Crown said: “We would like to say a huge thanks to all of the people who took part and raised sponsorship money for the cycle around Millport.

“Also thanks to Ian’s daughter and son, Gemma Sinclair and Scott Hunter, who also raised funds by doing the Great Scottish Run in Glasgow, and to everyone who attended the charity Bingo.

“We feel a real sense of community spirit when we fundraise together, and it really is contagious. When people see one person giving generously, others follow.”

The pub’s owner, Ian Hunter, requested the latest round of fundraising be donated to Rainbow House to thank them for the care his grandson has received there.
